Road Miles Scheme

What is the Road Miles Scheme? Basically it’s like Air Miles but better! Why? Because it keeps you fit and save you money. The more events you ride and the faster you go then the more points you accumulate. By accumulating Road Miles throughout the season members can obtain a discount on future orders for Club kit.

The scheme will run from January 2008 and will be open to fully paid-up Club members and Life Members only.

Each event in which a member participates can earn points which can be “banked” and later redeemed to obtain a discount against an order for club clothing.

Members must ensure that they claim their points by making a claim either through road_miles@leekcyclistsclub.co.uk or by contacting the claims adjudicator Kieran Meharg. Claims may also be made by posting to the Road Miles topic on the Club Forum.

To assist those who do not have access to the internet and where a number of riders participate in the same event; one member may post or notify the results of all the other members in the group.

The scheme will be based on honesty and truthfulness especially for non-results based events. Any rider or group of riders found to make a false claim will be suspended from the scheme for a period of 12 months and any false claim points deducted from their total.

After any ban expires, members’ points will be re-activated and they will be permitted to accumulate points once again.

Points cannot be transferred between members.

The discounts on clothing will be funded by profits from our own events and is not guaranteed. In the event of there being insufficient funds available to cover the whole of the discount for any given clothing order, then the percentage discount will be divided pro rata.

Discounts can only be claimed against future orders for club clothing, claims cannot be made retrospectively.

Point’s totals will be adjusted and discounts applied only when full payment for clothing is due, not when an order is placed.

The maximum discount for any single order will be 20%, any surplus points being carried forward.

Regardless of points redeemed against a clothing order, an annual award will be made to the top 3 members who have accumulated the most points immediately following the last club event (normally the Club Hill climb) of the year. From that point onwards existing member points will held in the “bank” and a new accumulation of points will commence.

A table of the current point’s position will be posted at regular intervals on the Club web site.

The rules of the scheme will be subject to annual revue by the Committee.
