 The Finley Tuned Athlete

Sunday; it's 7 in the morning

As a finely tuned athlete - no time for yawning,

But rather a few leg stretches - that's enough

I don't really go in for all this athletic stuff.

Hardened riders wait pensively to depart

As I make my way to the start,

These next few hours - there's going to be pain

I really must be going insane.

A last few words with folks from the Club

Regretting that final pint last night at the pub.

It's too late now to change my mind

The right gear I nervously try to find.

Then I'm handed the bright yellow jacket I need to wear

And told to go and stand over there.

This is it for the rest of the day

Making sure riders don't lose their way.

But first there's something I urgently need to do

That's grab a bacon butty

Like I said - I'm a finely tuned athlete through and through.
