Missed last weeks report due to collapsing after completing the Lyme 45 mile reliability ride

this not only being the first time I have attempted it for a while, but  had also joined the

Fit crew at the top of Ladderidge in order to ride out and back! The crew comprised of

Graham Jones, Paul Whiston, Dave & Mick Cope, along with Marc Briand who joined us for the ride out before returning home for parental duties. Passing through Baddley Green we collected Dave Gallimore from Werrington. Arriving at the new venue in Chesterton to meet up with Kevin Sharrock  and Graham Halden who had taken the sensible option and had driven out. We then collected our route cards and arm-bands before setting off for Prees Heath, Witchurch. However on the climb up towards Alsager bank a natural break occurred with those of us on the more traditional winter bikes (old) taking up our rightful position at the rear, but he who laughs last and all that rang true with the speed merchants missing the first turn! By the time they had found their bearings and retraced, us slow guys were more almost in Woore, so we ended up more or less together for the café stop, Mr Whiston taking honours for gannet of the week, despite losing points by ordering a small breakfast instead of full English, he came back strong with a side serving of chips to clinch the title! The group returned together helped by a strong tailwind, with only slight grumblings (no names) when we had passed 45 miles and there was still no sign of the HQ. A further 10 miles along we drew back into Chesterton tired but dry, with he final laugh of the day going to those who had driven out as they passed a rather sodden bedraggled group coming up through Endon. The next intrepid run for yours truly is when I intend to join a group of Leek riders taking part in Congleton CC’s 100 mile run to Ironbridge, members note this is now on Sunday the 23rd. and no they haven’t moved it to let me try and get fit!

Finally some dates for your diary there is a Quiz/charity Auction night taking place on February the 23rd  contact Kevin Sharrock if interested. And Congleton are having a bowling night on the 6th of March contact YT for details.
