Club Notes for the 15th June 2003

    Two weeks starting with the Warrington Road Club 50 held on 31st May 3 Leek riders took part, Paul ‘Whiz’ Whiston in his first event ever! Recording a time of 2-18-32, splitting the more experienced riders of Dave Bridden 2-23-12 and quickest Leek man Marc Briand, 2-06-36. Paul Dotchin won the event in 1-52-06. Sunday Morning, Belper RC 25 YT recorded 56-12 and Phil Gayes who was prevented from going under by an errant broken spoke resulting in a time of 1-1-03. Later on I joined promising newcomer Rich Brooks for the Congleton CC open 25 over Cheshire to record 57-48, 4th. Whilst Rich’s 59-32 for his first under the hour ride in only his 3rd 25. Charles McCulloch took the victory in 53-14.

    Monday club 5 championship good turn out for hilly variation of course well done to those who made it! Full Results in order were:-

    Tuesday only two survived for interclub 25 on Chain and Gate Dave Butterworth 1-12-50 and YT 57-17 winner Roger Wrenn, Macclesfeild 57-14

    Saturday morning’s TLI Adam Kenway 31-52 3rd, Marc Briand 33-32,Stuart Cope 35-23. Afternoon Nova CC YT 56-35, 5th. Sunday Chester RC YT 57-40, 4th pos winner Barry Charlton Stone Wheelers 54-44.

    Tuesday myself and Mr Butterworth alone again for the latest Congleton 10 Dave recording 25-49 his fastest for a while, whilst I finished 1st in 22-25, ahead of Crewe Clarion Ride John Waddilove’s 22-52.

    Elsewhere we had 3 riders in the TLI road race at Byley, Gary Thomas, Adam Kenway, Mark Poyser, all three enjoying the experience. Wednesday and Mr Butterworth and I were joined by Phil Gayes for the latest Macc 10. Dave slipping back a little at 26-35, whilst Phil had a trouble free ride for 24-18. I meanwhile picked up a puncture fortunately it was near the finish, so managed to claim 1st with 22-22.

    Leeks rising star Adam Kenway is also making inroads down the Newcastle track on Thursday claiming victory in numerous events,

    Finally next Sun is the Strawberry Muffin ride details ring Mr. Halden, also get well wishes to Whiz whose racing career as been stalled after an incident on the club turn left him with a fractured Elbow.
