We had a good turnout of riders for the second M&DTTA 10. First up was Simeon Yates taking part in his first time trial for over 12 years, Simeon’s like YT’s training as been a bit sporadic so we were using the event as a test. Simeon’s opening time of 30-33 creditable considering his standard machine and the weather. Ah yes conditions cast you’re mind back, you would be forgiven in thinking that we had the best day of the year, however this was on Cheshire the opening straight up Twemlow lane felt like you were in a wind tunnel! The sensation changed little out on the course proper with strong side winds making merely going in a straight line difficult. Not a day for Disc wheels! Phil Gayes Leeks next man, battled round the course in 27-27, final results may well credit Phil with a quicker time as from the results I only finished 5 seconds behind on the road and it did not appear that close. Alternatively my time 24-32 may be slower a distinct possibility as I would not expect to get within 10 seconds of an on-form Marc Poyser who took the honors for fastest club member with an excellent 24-23. Third fastest member Mark Briand who started between Mr. Poyser and me kicked off his season with a strong 25-16. Fastest rider on the day was Jimmy Froggat who seemed impervious to the buffeting finishing in 22-35.

Sundays run to Audlem was an altogether gentler affair, a strong turnout taking advantage of the weather. It even brought out some rare species including Messrs Cooper and Poyser who seeing the talent gathered in the car-park soon left us behind whilst they continued in pursuit of higher quality training. Another who also left some of us as we tackled Bridestones was el Presidente’ Mr. Pickford who looped back home at the top for an early cuppa! The rest of us continued in a relaxed atmosphere, good job as we were trying a new route, planned the night before in the clubhouse and not entirely accurate. After picking our way around Alsager and Crewe we arrived at the Priest hole for Lunch, Express instructions from Phil Jones who once again joined from Macc’ Wheelers to not let him repeat his “breakfast special” experiment. After the break we returned on a more direct route via Barlaston and Cheddleton.
