It appears that my pleas for contributions from Club members in my last Club notes fell on deaf ears or more correctly eyes as yet again we had no results to put in, even the 5 which I attended the results ended up on the wrong side of the super highway, which is why there was no report in last weeks paper, and not because I was sulking after my bike broke in the 5 more of which later.

First this week a belated result of the Nova Cycling Club open 25 that took place way back on the 5th of June Leek Cyclist Club/ Den Engels Belgium Bar supplied 3 riders Marc Briand who along with yours truly is having a season of more downs than ups finished in 1-05-21 for 63rd place, a much better ride was had by Mark Poyser whose decision to concentrate on solely weekend races seems to be paying of as he improved from a middling 59 minute ride in the interclub 25 (sorry cant be more exact as non of the parties have deemed to let me know) to a 58 – 48 and a position just outside the top 10 at 14. However Leeks' leading rider once again was Richard Brooks who set another personal best time of 56-58 for 5th place behind event winner Nick Giles who covered the Standard one and a half times round the Cheshire plains course in a scorching 55-47. Richs’ current run of form would put n=him favourite in the recent club championships unfortunately Rich can’t get out in the week which would leave the competitions wide open, Unfortunately what with the reduced membership and folk tied up with the organising side especially for the 5 actual number of members taking part in the championships so far have only been 3! Starting with the 5 and overall numbers were down a lot from last years with only 14 riders taking part in the race YT, Dave Butterworth and Kevin Pickford being the three from Leek CC with Dave coming out on top and Kevin 2nd. Yours truly coming home in the car after snapping a relatively new i.e. less than two-dozen events old steering adapter. The full results and times were: -
