Club Notes 8th July 2007

Although feeling a bit lonely in the open events being the only rider left competing after such a promising start, where we had 5 teams in the Nova CC 2 up I still tried to do my bit entering my second 50 of the season, the Cheshire Roads Club event on the very wind swept Cheshire course. But having not got the power or the distance in my legs, come on you mile munching sportive crews who can eat 50 miles before breakfast! I ended up over 4 minutes slower at 2-04-24, however with others also struggling my overall position did sneak up one to 7^th, one ahead of my Congleton C.C. nemesis Karl Austin who finished in 2-04-42. Although we were both well off the winners pace Wills wheels Jimmy Froggat one of only two riders to go under2 hours with an impressive 1-56-55.

Moving onto Tuesday and the latest round of the Congleton 10 series, and although we could not manage 5 teams Leek CC Den Engels did provide 5 of the 15 riders, including a first time appearance of Barry Riley who opened his account with a very promising 25-43, Whilst Rich Whalley lost slightly more than yours truly dropping back 37 seconds to my 14, but its oh so close. John and Ruth returning after a month’s sabbatical have yet to re-discover their racing legs the pair recording their personal worst. Leaving Leek residents Dave Butterwoth and Mark Tilstone to fill in the gaps.
