Welcome to the Official Home Page of the Leek Cyclists' Club.

(Average Monthly Visitors 2008 - 4085)

Our nominated charity is the The County Air Ambulance Charity

The Club was founded on 3rd August 1876 by W.T. Cook and 5 other stalwart gentlemen of Leek and is one of the oldest cycling clubs in Britain. In August 2006 the Club celebrated the 130th Anniversary of its founding with Mrs Edith Cook, the wife of the grandson of Mr. W.T. Cook.

Leek, in the county of Staffordshire, is situated about 30 miles south of Manchester and 10 miles north east of Stoke-on-Trent in the heart of the Staffordshire Moorlands. Surrounded by rugged, open moorland and bordering the Peak District National Park, the natural beauty of the countryside around Leek is unsurpassed. When he died in 1941 at the age of 91 W.T. Cook bequeathed his Ordinary Bicycle (Penny Farthing) to the Club. It has been fully restored and pictures of it being ridden by club members can be viewed in the Picture Gallery. It is now on permanent display in the Club's HQ:- Den Engel Belgian Bar and Restaurant, Stanley Street, Leek.
